Punjab Textbook Board

 

Punjab Textbook Board strives to broaden the horizons of learning in order to produce minds, alive to the responsibilities and challenges of life, and also capable of meeting them. The responsibilities of the Board are as follows:

  • Production and publication
  • Textbooks for Class I to XII
  • Supplementary reading material relating to textbooks
  • Guide books for teachers
  • Production of reference and research material in respect of problems relating to schemes of studies and preparation of textbooks
  • Conduct of research in the field of curricula, textbooks and other reading material, in the manner hereinafter appearing.

Punjab Examination Commission (PEC)

 

Punjab Examination Commission is an autonomous body set up by the Government of the Punjab to assess and examine students’ learning achievements particularly of grade 5 and 8. PEC started functioning in 2005 and in 2006 conducted 5th grade population examination for the first time in the Province. Now PEC is a statutory body working under Punjab Examination Commission Act XI of 2010. The sample analysis of the examinations conducted in the districts depicted the following results:

  • Overall quality of papers varied substantially.
  • Question papers didn’t represent the curriculum.
  • Some areas needed improvement, such as paper setting, marking schemes and consistency of the question difficulty with the children’s knowledge.
  • Since each district was creating its own paper, examination results couldn’t be compared among districts. The district and school comparisons of results would have become possible only if all students were responding to identical.

Punjab Education Foundation

 

The Punjab Education Foundation was established under the Punjab Education Foundation Act of 1991 as an autonomous statutory body to encourage and promote education in the private sector operating on non-commercial/ non-profit basis.

  • Provide financial assistance for the establishment, expansion, improvement, and management of educational institutions and allied projects.
  • Provide incentives to students, teachers, and Educational Institutions.
  • Promote public-private partnerships relating to education.
  • Provide technical assistance to Educational Institutions for testing policy interventions and innovative programmes for replication.
  • Rank private educational institutions based on educational standards.
  • Raise funds through donations, grants, contributions, subscriptions etc.
  • Assist Educational Institutions in capacity building, including training of teachers.
  • Undertake any other function as may be assigned to it by the Board with the approval of the Government.

Punjab Teachers Foundation

 

Any contribution to the Foundation received from Government or other bodies or persons to defray all proper costs, charges and expenses of and incidental to the Administration of the Foundation to apply the corpus and or the income of the Foundation for the benefit of the beneficiaries and their dependents, generally to administer the Foundation for the purpose and in the manner indicated in the annexure to this scheme and to do all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them or to the carrying out of this scheme.

The Punjab Daanish Schools and Centers of Excellence Authority

 

The Daanish Schools are being established with a clear vision to fight poverty through educating the gifted children of the underprivileged and vulnerable as well as providing them with a level playing field in the society. This is an affirmative action for the forgotten communities of Pakistan’s poorest of the poor.The visionary initiative of Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the Chief Minister Punjab aims:

  • To demonstrate that all children can excel, if given equal opportunity
  • To rekindle hope amongst the under-privileged
  • To develop ethical, value-driven future leaders
  • To fight social inequality and alleviate poverty
  • To contain extremism by inculcating tolerance, human dignity and harmony.
